About GROUP IDEA
Investment, built to
outlast the cycle.
GROUP IDEA is a Slovenia-based investment group active across energy, agriculture and data infrastructure in seven countries across Southeast Europe.
Who We Are
One holding.
Several disciplines.
Regional reach.
GROUP IDEA is a Slovenia-based investment group built around a simple premise: the infrastructure a region needs to grow — power, land and data — rarely gets built by companies that think in quarters. We do.
Our business units operate independently, each with its own technical expertise, but they share a single balance sheet, one investment discipline, and a common long-term view of Southeast Europe’s future. From our base in Ljubljana, we’ve extended that view across seven markets, working alongside utilities, landowners, municipalities and enterprise clients who need a partner willing to fund, build and stay.
The Name
Why IDEA?
Our name is not a metaphor. It is a structure — four letters, four disciplines, one balance sheet.
I
Investment
Patient capital committed for decades, not fund cycles — the foundation every other unit is built on.
D
Data Centers
Hyperscale digital infrastructure, engineered for the compute demand of the AI decade.
E
Energy
Grid support, renewable integration and power infrastructure across the region’s expanding energy transition.
A
Agriculture
Land and agricultural ventures that treat soil as a long-duration asset, not a line item.
Where We Operate
Headquartered in Slovenia.
Active across the region.
GROUP IDEA is headquartered in Ljubljana, Slovenia, with operations, partners and active projects spanning seven countries across Southeast Europe.

Our Mission
Infrastructure the
region can rely on
for decades.
Our mission is simple to state and hard to execute: fund and build the infrastructure Southeast Europe needs to modernize its energy grid, secure its food systems, and support its digital economy — without cutting corners on the engineering or the timeline.
We measure success the way our clients and partners do — in decades of reliable operation, not the size of a press release.
Why Choose Us
Six reasons clients
stay with us.
Full-Service Delivery
From feasibility and financing to construction and long-term operation, each business unit carries a project the whole way — clients deal with one partner, not a chain of subcontractors.
Patient Capital
We invest our own balance sheet for the long term, which keeps our incentives aligned with an asset’s performance over decades, not a fund’s exit timeline.
Sector Depth
Each business unit is run by specialists in that specific field — energy engineers, agronomists and data-infrastructure architects — rather than generalists spread thin across the group.
Regional Fluency
Operating across seven markets means navigating seven regulatory environments and seven grid operators. We do that daily, not occasionally.
Sustainability by Default
Every project is evaluated against environmental and renewable-energy criteria before it’s approved — not after it’s built.
Independence
We’re privately held and answer to our own long-term thesis, which lets us commit to projects other investors consider too patient.
How We Work
One partner,
start to finish.
01
Assess
We start with a technical and financial assessment of the opportunity — grid capacity, soil quality, or compute demand, depending on the sector.
02
Finance
GROUP IDEA funds the project directly from its own capital, so clients and partners don’t carry the upfront cost or the financing risk.
03
Build
Our in-house teams and vetted regional contractors deliver the engineering and construction, to the same standard whether it’s a substation, a data hall or a hectare of land.
04
Operate
We stay on as the long-term operator or investor — a project that works on day one and fails by year five isn’t one we consider finished.
Our Team
Built by specialists,
not generalists.
Behind each business unit is a team that has spent its career in that specific discipline — engineers who’ve built substations, agronomists who’ve managed working farmland, infrastructure architects who’ve commissioned data halls.
What holds the teams together is a shared standard for how a project should be run: transparently, on schedule, and built to last well past the ribbon-cutting.
